the longest day.

(blah blah blah, goddamn i really love ian. ) >=/

I.

in the first sweet hours of

realization,

i lovingly resigned myself to

the happiest day of my life.

and the longing to lay

entwined with you

swept as fever over my brain,

a fever matched only

in heat and fervor

by the day the spark of life

settled through our passions

and i anxiously resigned myself to

the happiest day of my life.

the day where our pain was

washed away and our second chance

grew rapidly until

the promise of our future

lay snugly wrapped between us

and i gratefully resigned myself to

the happiest day of my life.

II.

so i was caught unprepared when

the darkness

descended to reign upon my quick

and naive mind.

the never-ceasing spiral

made me dizzy and i

wandered with vertigo

trying to find

the happiest days of my life.

caught in the blackness my hands

sought yours

but found tearing roots

and crumbling rock.

i wandered the shadowed terrors

of my prison-maze

and once saw light-

as you sat beside me

in the aftermath

and we reveled in the mutual

joy of creation.

and i resigned myself to the briefest taste of

the happiest day of my life.

when demons

reclaimed their perch i,

lost again in the madness,

soon forgot about

the happiest day of my life.

millenia passed, every second

ticked cruelly,

lasting for a hundred years,

none of which humored

the happiest day of my life.

strange it should be that

i lay naked

and crucified,

bargaining with my breath,

my impending death posing no threat

to the happiest day of my life.

III.

and in your arms once more

i found the comfort

so constantly drifting in and out

of view

that i had longed for.

driving me to discover the cause

of my suffering

and why each day of my life

was being stolen.

i cannot be happy with your love.

i cannot be happy with this life.

i cannot be happy until the day

that you lay your weary bones

down next to my weary bones and

reach your shaking, wrinkled hand

out to hold mine and remind me

that every day of my life

was happy

because you were in it.

and on my last day with you

i will know that

no day could ever be happier.
